Hochkönig Paragliding: A Tricky Launch

A tricky paragliding launch and subsequent flight from Hochkönig. Launch was right next to Matrashaus in westerly direction.

The ascent was via the ”Normalweg”, starting at Arthurhaus and passing by Mitterfeldalm: 1700 vertical meters and 10km length in about 3 hours. Ultralight equipment is definitely a big plus for such an undertaking.

The summit cross was recently replaced, causing all sorts of rubble and left-over wiring to still be around. The new cross is also
very inconveniently placed into the main launch and is generously supported by metal wiring, making the launch even more unforgiving.

Right after the flight a helicopter approached and landed very close to where I landed; quite scary as I did not perceive it at all while I was in the air.
